Strategic Water Conveyance Programme
Project overview
A landmark BOT water-conveyance programme carrying groundwater from a remote aquifer to major urban demand centres. The system combines 55 production wells, approximately 330 km of 1,600 mm transmission pipeline and two principal pumping stations, delivering around 100 million m³ of potable water each year under a 25-year concession.
The programme was financed through a combination of government participation, developer equity and international lenders, and entered operation under the concession structure.
MZA’s predecessor organisation represented an international electrical and control contractor in connection with the electrical and control environment of the programme. The engagement was specialist representation and coordination at package level. The programme value shown here is the value of the asset, not of MZA’s mandate: MZA did not develop, finance, engineer or construct the conveyance system, and no responsibility for the complete works is claimed.
